निर्जल nirjal

निर्जल nirjala nirjal (a) anhydrous; without water; dry; ~लीय non-aqueous; ~ल व्रत a fast wherein taking of even water is forbidden.

S نرجل निर्जल nir-jal, adj. (f. -ā), Without water, waterless, dry, desert; — not mixed with water (as milk, &c.); — s.m. A desert, waste; — a fast in which water even is not to be drunk: — nirjalaikādaśī (˚la+ek), s.f. Name of the eleventh day in the light half of the month Jeṭh (May-June), on which even the drinking of water is forbidden; the fast of that day: — nir-jal karnā, To go without food and water, to keep a rigid fast.
