निर्वाण nirvāṇ

निर्वाण nirvāṇa nirvā:ṉ (nm) salvation, liberation (from existence; used in Buddhist Philosophy as a technical term); extinction; —प्राप्त करना to achieve salvation.

S نروان निर्वाण nir-vāṇ, vulg. nir-bāṇ, part. adj. (f. -ā), Extinguished (as a fire, &c.); lost, disappeared, extinct; — liberated from existence, dead, deceased; — (S. nir-vāṇam), s.m. Becoming extinguished; disappearance, extinction; dissolution, death; — final emancipation from matter and from the necessity for further transmigration, and reunion with the Supreme Spirit, eternal bliss; — (with Buddhists and Jains) absolute extinction, annihilation.
