फूँकना phūṁknā [*phūtka-: Pk. phuṁkā-], v.t. 1. to blow; to blow (a wind instrument); to blow up (a fire). 2. to breathe; to infuse (as new life: into, में); to breathe (an incantation). 3. to whisper (in the ear); to influence (one). 4. to puff at (a cigarette). 5. to set fire to. 6. to squander (wealth, &c.). 7. to spread about (news, rumour). 8. fig. to cause distress (to a person). — फूँक-फूँककर चलना, to tread carefully, to act with caution (as if blowing dust from one's path). फूँक-फूँककर पाँव (पैर) धरना, or रखना, id.
