प्रवृत्ति pravṛtti pravritti (nf) mentality; trend, tendency; (mental) inclination/disposition; instinct; activity; ~गत pertainiṉg to or on the basis of trends/tendencies; —मार्ग (the path of) active association with and interest in mundane affairs; ~वाद the philosophy of active association with mundane existence; hence ~वादी (a and nm).

Continuous flow onwards, progress, advance; stream, current; rise, source, origin, beginning; activity, effort, employment, occupation; active life (as opp. to a life of contemplation); giving or applying oneself (to, -meṅ), engaging (in), undertaking; tendency (to), addiction (to), inclination, predilection (for); application, use, employment; continued application, perseverance; practice, conduct, behaviour; currency, continuance, continuity; the applicableness or validity of a rule; news, tidings, intelligence; the juice that exudes from the temples of an elephant in rut; name of any holy place; (in Gram.) the crude form (of a word); (in Arith.) the multiplier: — pravr̤itti karnā (-meṅ), To enter (upon), engage (in), undertake (an enterprise), &c.
