वृत्ति vr̥tti. Vritti, attitude, tendencies, inclinations, instincts.

वृत्ति vṛtti vritti (nf) instinct; mentality; profession, vocation; (conventional) function; stipend (as -छात्र वृत्ति); commentary (esp. on a su:tra).

वृत्ति vr̥tti [S.], f. a turning: 1. state, condition. 2. behaviour, conduct; mode or habit of life. 3. natural tendency; instinct. 4. business, employment; profession. 5. means of subsistence; allowance; pension. 6. commentary (on a text). 7. partic. usage (of a term or expression). — वृत्ति-कर, m. employment tax. वृत्ति-चक्र, m. a system (of attitudes, values). वृत्ति-साम्य, m. similar state (to, से). आकाश-वृत्ति, f. support from heaven: feckless or improvident life. छात्र-वृत्ति, f. a scholarship, bursary.
