When you are sick, the remedy is music, Whether it is through a song or a lyric.
Not only this, music has always significantly influenced the lives of human beings in all aspects and situations. In old Indian stories, there have been beautiful examples of Musicians. Their music had the power to melt stones and even to make it rain. How the buzzing moth which is trapped in a Lotus flower is freed when the flower opens unexpectedly, sensing the melody of a song.
Indeed, music has a fascinating magic. Its great magic brings wonders to life. It is because of this that we see in different fields and institutions that when light music is introduced to instill relaxation and enthusiasm, its result promotes interest in work. Similarly, religion and spirituality also cannot stay aloof from the magic of music. On the path of devotion too, there has been a long history of singing songs in praise of God.
In the practice of human psychology, patients are encouraged to express their feelings by means of songs which otherwise could not be expressed by way of simple words. Thus, songs serve to emerge feelings which are hidden inside the heart. Music lightens the heart relieving it of all sorrows ans seriousness. A light and true hearted person alone can have the power to attract the love of God and music is the best way.
Hence, the Brahma Kumaris Organisation, recognizing the importance of music, has since long been utilizing it for its meditation sessions. In other words, we can say, Music acts as a motivator for the soul. And, rightly too, beginning and ending sessions with a little music not only refreshes but also gives positive thoughts to the mind and gives it direction.
Spiritual songs are like a life-giving herb which has the power to awaken souls from the slumber of illusion and make them understand reality in a more creative way. Thus, music in the spiritual arena isn't something to just listen to. It needs to be pondered upon and related to one's own experience. We also need to verify it further in terms of feelings.
Part II of "Songs from the Heart" is yet another wonderful collection of such songs which really makes the heart scintillate; as the heart opens and love flows freely, the desire to grow and fly comes from within and spreads the thoughtful symphony of love and compassion for all.
