खातिर khātir

ख़ातिर ḵẖātira ḳḥa:tir (nf) hospitality; (ind) for, for, the sake of; ~जमा assurance; —रखना to rest assured; ~दार hospitable, one who extends hospitality; ~दारी hospitality, warm reception.

ख़ातिर ḵẖātir [A. ḵẖāt̤ir], f. what occurs to the mind: 1. regard, respect. 2. considerate attention; hospitality. 3. ppn. out of consideration (for, की). — ~ करना, to show regard, &c. (for, की). ~ में न लाना, to show no regard or esteem (for). – ख़ातिरजमा रखना, to be composed, or assured. – ख़ातिरदारी [P. -dārī], f. showing regard, or consideration; entertainment, hospitality. ख़ातिरदारी करना, to show consideration (for, की); to receive respectfully, or hospitably.

A خاطر ḵẖāt̤ir (part. n. of خطر 'occur to the mind,' &c.), s.f. orig. 'Whatever occurs to or passes in the mind,' cogitation, thought, suggestion; memory, remembrance; — mind, soul, heart; inclination, propensity; affection, regard, favour; pleasure, satisfaction; will, choice; sake, account, behalf; — postpn. For the sake (of), on account (of, -kī), out of consideration or regard (for), &c. ḵẖāt̤ir karnā (-kī), To study the feelings or the interest (of), to desire to please, to indulge; to soothe, comfort, encourage; to conciliate, reconcile; to fondle, show affection (for), be partial (to).
