Sound, noise, confused noise, uproar, din; a Hindū festival including songs and dances celebrated in the month Kārttik, the circular dance practised by cowherds in commemoration of the dance in which Krishṇ and the Gopīs engaged; festive amusement, sportive game; amorous pastime; — speech; — a chain: — rās-dhārī, s.m. A dancing boy (who imitates the rās of Krishṇ); — a composer of dances: — rās-līlā, s.f. The amorous pastimes of Krishṇ (esp. on a certain night) with the cowherdesses of Mathurā; the play or work which describes these sports: — rās-maṇḍal, s.m.
