The first of the four yug of the universe according to Indian mythology. Satyug is said to be the best or golden period or age of creation.
Origin of the definition
सत sata sat (nm) essence, juice; strength, vitality; truth, truthfulness; an allomorph of सात used as the first member in certain compound words; ~गुना seven times; ~गुरु true/good preceptor; God; ~जुग one and the first of the four yugas (the other being द्वापर, त्रेता and कलि) of the universe according to Indian mythology. The सतयुग is said to be the best or golden period/age of creation; ~युगी belonging to the ~युग; ~वंती (a) chaste (woman) —डिगा जहान डिगा when character is lost all is lost —पर (जमे) रहना to hold on to the righteous path; to maintain one's chastity.
