God has the key to the lock of buddhi

Baba uses the English words actor and drama.

phansnā means “to be trapped, to be ensnared, to be baited.”

buddhi is the intelligent part of the mind.

buddhi kā tālā band karnā means “to lock the buddhi”.

An actor plays a role in a play or film.

The play or film can represent a drama, represent scenes from life.

Baba teaches us that the Earth is the great stage of life and that we are the actors.

An actor plays a role. Normally he knows he's not really that role. He pretends to be someone else. Even if he can identify with his role, at the end of the play he return to his original identity.

Here too, the role should be separated from our identity.

What we do is the role. But the real identity is the soul.

In a way, it's about having a split personality:

• the played personality that is necessary in our exchanges, and to live simply.
• the real personality of the soul, his innate qualities.

The two are compatible provided we do not identify with the role because we can ultimately only have one identity.

When we identify with the role, we see ourselves as the body. This is called being trapped.

Then Baba locks the buddhi, the intelligent part of the mind.

What we could grasp before, we no longer grasp.

The secrets of the Earthly Drama are then lost.

One can of course perhaps recite the knowledge, but without real understanding it is of no use.

Ensuring we are never trapped is always seeing ourselves as the soul. It's very difficult. This is why the stage of this divine journey is long. It's training.

One may wonder why Baba locks the buddhi. After all, if we always had knowledge in mind, we could avoid all the pitfalls.

But if one had this knowledge and still did bad deeds, what use would this knowledge be?

At least, by locking the buddhi, Baba warns us that we have gone astray. The response is immediate and we have the opportunity to correct ourselves, otherwise we risk accumulating bad karma, being punished and complaining about not having been warned before.

Baba also has the key to open the lock of buddhi. If we become more obedient, if we follow Shrimat more, we may experience being the soul. So that means He opened the lock of buddhi.
