16Without the era being given, you cannot know anything.
19यह लक्ष्मी-नारायण भारत में राज्य करते थे , तो जरूर संवत होना चाहिए , इनका संवत माना स्वर्ग का संवत . yah lakṣhmī-nārāyaṇ bhārat mē̃ rājya kartē thē , tō jarūr saṃvat hōnā chāhiē , inkā saṃvat mānā svarg kā saṃvat . yah[pn.sg.d.] lakṣhmī-nārāyaṇ[n.m.;sg.,d.] bhārat[n.m.;sg.,d.] mē̃[postp.] rājya karnā[hab-past.pl.m.] , tō zarūr saṃvat[x] hōnā[imp.pl.2hon.inf+cāhnā]|hōnā[.oblig3] , yah[pn.pl.kā] saṃvat[x] mānā|mānnā[past-part.m.sg.d.] svarg[n.m.;sg.,d.] kā[postp.ā=>ā;m.sg.d.] saṃvat[x] . this Lakshmi and Narayan Bharat in x , then definitely era (be[imp.pl.2hon.inf+cāhnā]|be[.oblig3]) , this[.kā] era (means|x[past-part.m.sg.d.]) heaven of era .
17Lakshmi and Narayan ruled in Bharat, so there must surely be an era for them. 18Their era is the era of the golden age.
, kaun[pn.sg.o.]|kyā[pn.sg.o.] saṃvat[x] sē[postp.] kaun[pn.sg.o.]|kyā[pn.sg.o.] saṃvat[x] tak kahnā[opt.pl.12hon3] , tō bhī[x] 5 hazār[n.m.;sg.,d.] varṣh[n.m.;sg.,d.] hī[p.] kahnā[fut.m.pl.12hon3] . 19Lakshmi and Narayan ruled in the golden age, but from when till when did they rule? 20It would be said that it was 5000 years ago.

51द्वापर में अशोक ( शोक रहित ) तो कोई है नहीं . dvāpar mē̃ aśhōk ( śhōk rahit ) tō kōī hai nahī̃ . dvāpar mē̃[postp.] aśhōk[adj.] ( śhōk[n.m.;sg.,d.] rahit ) tō kōī[pn.;d.] hōnā[pres.sg.23] nahī̃[neg] . copper age in x ( sorrow without ) then some be[pres.sg.23] not .
49In the copper age, there is no one without sorrow.
52अशोक पिल्लर तो आधाकल्प सतयुग त्रेता तक चलता है . aśhōk pillar tō ādhākalp satyug trētā tak chaltā hai . aśhōk[adj.] pillar tō ādhākalp[n.m.;sg.,d.] satyug[n.m.;sg.,d.] trētā[n.f.;sg.] tak chalnā[pres.sg.m.23] . x x then for half a cycle golden age silver age until continue[pres.sg.m.23] .
50The Ashok pillar lasted for half a cycle through the golden and silver ages.
53उनकी यह महिमा है . unkī yah mahimā hai . vah[pn.pl.kī] yah[pn.sg.d.] mahimā[n.f.;sg.] hōnā[pres.sg.23] . that[.kī] this praise be[pres.sg.23] . 54शोक पिल्लर की महिमा नहीं है . śhōk pillar key|kī mahimā nahī̃ hai . śhōk[n.m.;sg.,d.] pillar key|karnā[past-part.f.]|kā[postp.ā=>ī;f.] mahimā[n.f.;sg.] nahī̃[neg] hōnā[pres.sg.23] . sorrow x (key|do[past-part.f.]|of) praise not be[pres.sg.23] .
51It is this that is praised; there is no praise of the Shok pillar (with sorrow).
55यहाँ तो दुःख ही दुःख है . yahā̃ tō duḥkh hī duḥkh hai . yahā̃ tō duḥkhnā[root]|duḥkh[n.m.;sg.,d.] hī[p.] duḥkhnā[root]|duḥkh[n.m.;sg.,d.] hōnā[pres.sg.23] . here then (hurt[root]|sorrow) only (hurt[root]|sorrow) be[pres.sg.23] .
52There is nothing but sorrow here.

54For half the cycle, they call momentary happiness a time without sorrow, but there is no such thing as ashok (without sorrow).
59मास-मदिरा , गन्द खाते रहते हैं . mās-madirā , ganda khātē rahtē haĩ . x , gand[n.f.;sg.] khānā[pres.pl.m.12hon3.pres-part+rahnā] . x , x eat[pres.pl.m.12hon3.pres-part+rahnā] . 60कुछ भी समझते नहीं कि हम दुःखी कैसे हुए ? kuchh bhī samajhtē nahī̃ ki ham duḥkhī kaisē huē ? kuchh bhī[x] samajhnā[pres-part.m.pl.,o.] nahī̃[neg] ki[conj.] ham[pn.pl.] duḥkhī[adj.]|duḥkhnā[past-part.f.] kaisā[adj.ā=>ē;m.o.,m.pl.] hōnā[past-part.m.pl.,o.] ? anything understand[pres-part.m.pl.,o.] not that we (unhappy|hurt[past-part.f.]) how be[past-part.m.pl.,o.] ?

62Shiva is in the incorporeal world. 63They do not know about the subtle region or the incorporeal world, and this is why they have combined Shiva and Shankar.
71शिव है परमपिता परमात्मा , शंकर है देवता . śhiv hai parampitā paramātmā , śhaṅkar hai dēvtā . śhiv hōnā[pres.sg.23] parampitā[n.m.;sg.,d.] paramātmā[n.m.;sg.,d.] , śhaṅkar[n.m.;sg.,d.] hōnā[pres.sg.23] dēvtā[n.f.;sg.] .
